I would like to nominate Melanie Jennings for the Cleveland Ophthalmic Personnel Society Tech of the year. I started working with her 3 1/2 years ago. From the start I was impressed by her willingness to jump right into the clinic and do whatever it would take to get the job done. Without her, I would still be fumbling around trying to use the Fundus camera. She is also my go to person for difficult OCT’s. She always seems to get a great image. I am so glad we have Melanie as part of our team. She is a great person to work with.
It was also 4 years ago that Melanie meekly raised her hand from the back of the brunch meeting when COPS was looking for a volunteer to take over the newsletter and she took right off with it. We greatly appreciate all that you do with our newsletter.
From her boss, Dr. Kosmorsky – How does Melanie do it? She is so young and has to work with all of those older cranky women! Well….I guess it keeps them young to have to keep up you. Melanie is certainly an energetic and extremely hard working technician! She is always willing to learn new things as exemplified by learning how to do Goldman visual fields. Doing GVF’s is a lost art but one that is extremely valuable to a neurophthalmologist….as there are a lot of crazies out there that need to be stopped! She always receives compliments from our patients for being so nice and thorough which I don’t often tell her for fear that she will want a raise. Melanie was our most recent recruit and fits in beautifully because of her calm demeanor and willingness to help in any situation. Melanie is not only an asset to our practice but to the ophthalmic technician community at large by representing herself and her profession so well! She is certainly worthy of the designation of “COPS technician of the year”!
